Dr. Benjamin Gelfand brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in the healthcare industry. He is a widely-respected authority in sports medicine and rehabilitation, and is best known for founding and building STAR Physical Therapy in New York City, and for his previous role as Director of the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma (NISMAT) program at Lenox Hill Hospital, as well as Chief of Clinical Services at Motion PT Group. In addition, Gelfand is an esteemed international speaker, educator, and contributing author to many scholarly articles and publications.
He is a nationally recognized, renowned physical therapist who is well published and is an esteemed lecturer in the sports physical therapy industry. His exceptional clinical knowledge and skills, as well as his vast experiences, allows him to be a great source of learning through his writings and lectures. Dr. Gelfand is also an international philanthropist, working alongside the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) Touching Hands and Helping Hands Organizations, and making annual trips to Haiti or Bolivia to participate in triage, pre-surgical education, and post-operative management and rehabilitation.
In his spare time, Dr. Gelfand is a part time Sheriff and likes to spend time with his family and training for endurance sports.
